Harrisonburg is halfway through their 10-week summer concert series featuring a diverse line-up of national artists. Thousands of residents and visitors have enjoyed the concerts that covered wide range of genres including jazz, soul, bluegrass, indie rock, hip hop, and mariachi.
Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance (HDR) received a $90,000 Levitt AMP [Your City] Grant Award to support the series. The Levitt Foundation, a social impact funder, partners with communities to activate underused outdoor space and create welcoming and inclusive destinations with the power of music. The $30,000 per year matching grant supports a free, live concert series for three consecutive years. As part of the grant’s community-driven selection process, finalists are selected through online, public voting, and Harrisonburg received a record number of votes.
Levitt AMP Harrisonburg is held on Wednesday evenings at Turner Pavilion in downtown Harrisonburg. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and set up picnics. On-site food vendors and a beer garden featuring a different downtown brewery or cidery each week adds to the fun.

The family-friendly concerts would not be possible without support from many sponsors, volunteers, and partner organizations including the City of Harrisonburg.
The Friendly City (youth) Photo Corps, led by mentor Bob Adamek, has been capturing the series. Check out their photos on HDR’s Facebook page and make plans to visit Harrisonburg to experience the fun for yourself!
