VMS Regional Rev-Up: Strategic Volunteer Engagement workshop registration / details can be found at the end of this post.
When it comes to having a thriving and vibrant downtown, you simply can’t do it alone! Having enthusiastic and committed volunteers can grow your organization’s capacity, create broad personal investment in your work, and create a pipeline of sustainable growth for the future of your Main Street program.
There are a lot of ways to start a volunteer program, but the best way is to start where you are! Perhaps you need someone to put up flyers to promote the Restaurant Week event that’s coming up or would benefit from a skilled team helping to decorate downtown for the holiday season. Whatever the case may be, asking for help can be hard, but more often than not, there are many individuals in your community looking for the right opportunity to volunteer.

Main Street America (MSA) provides resources to help Main Street leaders learn how to forge a volunteer program that fits the stage and scale of their organization. Click here to get equipped with the tools you need to deploy strategies to recruit and retain volunteers!
Training Opportunity
Virginia Main Street (VMS) will be hosting a regional Rev-Up workshop next month, focused on how to cultivate and sustain a top-notch volunteer program. Katherine (Katie) Campbell, a volunteer management professional, will illustrate a strategic blueprint designed to help identify an organization’s strengths and highlight areas for growth. This interactive workshop will offer a wealth of insights and provide participants with a toolkit that includes practical examples of volunteer management systems, as well as additional resources.
