More than 35 Virginia Main Street (VMS) communities joined their fellow Main Streeters from across the nation in the birthplace of America for three full days of education sessions, workshops, and special events at the 2025 Main Street Now Conference.

Community champions from across the country came together to exchange ideas and strengthen their ability to support local revitalization efforts through the power of the Main Street movement. This year’s conference centered around the core theme of fostering a healthy Main Street ecosystem, with sessions exploring three interconnected sub-themes: connection, highlighting the importance of strong partnerships and community engagement; innovation, focusing on creative strategies to address evolving challenges; and sustainability, emphasizing long-term impact through resilient planning and inclusive practices.
Several recognitions came from the Commonwealth this year, most notably Downtown Wytheville being recognized as a semi-finalist for the prestigious Great American Main Street Award. Congrats Wytheville!
Congratulations to our very own Blaire Buergler on officially earning the designation of Main Street America Revitalization Professional through her completion of the Main Street America Institute!

After three days of learning, collaboration, and inspiration, what do we do with this incredible wealth of knowledge? We take it back home and, as champions of our communities, spread the gospel of Main Street, striving to make our communities stronger.
Community development is tough and often unforgiving work, but conferences like these provide a great opportunity to inspire new directors and re-energize seasoned ones. If opportunities like this intrigue you, consider attending next year’s Main Street Now Conference, which will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma!
