The National Trust for Historic Preservation, which houses the National Trust Main Street Center, has named Stephanie Meeks as the organization’s eighth president. Meeks replaces Richard Moe, who led the organization for the past 17 years before his retirement in late 2009.
Meeks has an established track record leading large nonprofit organizations. She served as president and chief executive officer of Counterpart International, a nonprofit international development organization working in 25 countries.
Before Counterpart, she held top leadership positions with one of the world’s largest and most influential conservation organizations, The Nature Conservancy, for more than 17 years, including acting president and chief executive officer, and chief operating officer.
The National Trust helps people protect, enhance and enjoy the places that matter to them by providing leadership, education, advocacy, and resources, including that of the National Trust Main Street Center.
