The Virginia Downtown Development Association (VDDA), one of Virginia Main Street’s closest partners and strongest supporters,will host its 29th Annual Awards of Excellence to recognize and encourage excellence in historic downtown revitalization throughout the commonwealth of Virginia.
The Awards of Excellence are presented to showcase the achievements of organizations, individuals and government in meeting the challenges of downtown management and revitalization. Winners will be announced Wednesday, June 4, during the VDDA’s Annual Awards Ceremony to be held during the VCEN Annual Conference at the Hotel Roanoke. The event is free for members and $50 for non-members.
Entries must be postmarked by Monday, May 19, or hand delivered on the same date by 5 p.m.

Some Background on the Virginia Downtown Development Association
Founded in 1982, VDDA is an independent association that focuses on the importance of Virginia’s downtowns. VDDA advocates, supports and promotes leadership in downtown revitalization throughout the commonwealth. Participants include economic development professionals, appointed and elected city and county officials, downtown managers, planners, architects, business owners, tourism officials, chambers of commerce and others who are stakeholders in maintaining Virginia’s vibrant historic downtowns. VDDA has successfully helped Virginia localities for more than 25 years and offers many services to communities throughout the commonwealth to advance the revitalization of our historic downtowns.
