The Commonwealth of Virginia has created a new grant program to assist small businesses and nonprofit organizations throughout the state who have faced unprecedented economic distress due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The statewide Rebuild VA program will provide grants of up to three times the applicant’s average monthly eligible expenses up to a maximum award of $10,000. The program will be capitalized with $70 million, and half of the proceeds will be directed toward small businesses and nonprofits located in economically disadvantaged areas, including ensuring adequate representation of women-owned and minority-owned businesses.
“Small businesses and nonprofits are the backbone of the Virginia economy and the bedrock of our communities. Rebuild VA will help address the vast challenges that small businesses and nonprofits across our Commonwealth are facing as they work to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.” – Governor Ralph Northam
The Rebuild VA grant application will be available starting on August 10, 2020. More details about the new program, including eligibility criteria, covered expenses, how to submit and more, can be found here. It is highly recommended that interested applicants register for the “How to Apply” webinars to review eligibility requirements and documentation needed to apply when the application opens to the public.
