Excitingly, the Retail Alliance has announced that retailers anywhere can now apply to earn their Certificate in Retail Operations (CROPS). Through their virtual 14-week program, the Hampton Roads-based nonprofit organization strives to fill the competency gap in retail operations, equipping participants with the education and skills to overcome the challenges inherent in starting or advancing their careers in the retail industry.

The 14-week program will be broken up into seven topic areas, each representing the 7 Behaviors of Retail Excellence, and classes can be taken individually or as a course of study:

• Startup
• Retail Accounting
• Marketing and Advertising
• Merchandising and Inventory Management
• HR Management
• LP and Security
• Business Planning

Classes will start March 1 and be held every Monday from 6-8:00 p.m. via Zoom. The cost of enrollment will be $495. Scholarships are available for members of the Retail Alliance and non-members can apply for a voucher through the Hampton Roads Workforce Council / VA Career Works.
