On Friday, July 15, 2022, a fire devastated a portion of the historic commercial district in Tappahannock, Virginia. Unfortunately, several businesses and homes were reduced to ash, jobs are affected and the community lost a piece of its beloved downtown. Tappahannock Main Street, the town’s local Advancing Virginia Main Street (AVMS) organization, has been helping to lead recovery efforts, and they recently launched a GoFundMe to raise money, specifically for the affected employees and businesses. While time and insurance may ease some of today’s pain, there are many immediate needs and rebuilding efforts will require the support of the community and Main Street network.
