Ashland Theatre Offering Drive-In Movies

The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) awarded the town of Ashland a $500,000 grant through the Industrial Revitalization Fund in 2015 for the renovation of the historic Ashland Theatre. Fast forward to 2020, and the completed project resulted in a beautiful entertainment venue that has, like most others, been unable to open since March. But, this summer, the community has rallied around the theatre again, thanks to a drive-in movie experience created by the Ashland Theatre Foundation. With spots for 26 cars, tickets that can be purchased ahead of time online and classics like Dirty Dancing, Grease and Jaws on the big screen, “Ashland Theatre After Dark” is good, old-fashioned fun for everyone. Head to their website for all the details.

“The grant catalyzed the renovation of the theatre and that has resulted in substantial economic improvements, but also a dramatic improvement to the quality of life for our citizens,” says Ashland Town Manager Josh Farrar.  Cheers to Ashland Theatre for continuing to bring the entertainment when we need it most!
