On Friday, November 20, 2020, Main Street America (MSA) will host a webinar focused on creating outdoor spaces in colder months. Undeniably, we’ve grown accustom to viewing our main streets and downtowns as commercial and social centers. But, the novel coronavirus pandemic has forced communities across the nation to move indoor activities outside, and that’s an interesting concept worth discussing, especially when preparing for the winter months / holiday season.
During the webinar, MSA will present innovative ideas that were submitted through Bench Consulting’s Winter Places design competition to demonstrate readily implementable, low cost interventions to attract residents and visitors back downtown, encouraging them to shop and support small businesses. MSA will also review best practices, highlighting how to gain consensus for implementation, and share examples of varied winter activations from around the globe.
