Recently, Governor Northam announced that 12 Advancing Virginia Main Street (AVMS) communities will be awarded Downtown Investment Grants (DIG) to support projects aimed at revitalizing historic commercial districts, expanding small businesses and growing local economies. The Virginia Main Street program is a proven tool to help small communities create opportunities for long-term economic growth – that’s why we plan to invest significant resources from the American Rescue Plan to expand the reach of these redevelopment efforts.”

The following AVMS communities will receive DIG funding:
- Town of Farmville | Wayfinding Fabrication and Installation | $25,000
- City of Hopewell | Alley Activation and Complete Streets | $25,000
- Town of Orange | Placemaking in Commemorative Park | $25,000
- City of Winchester | Façade Improvements and Complete Streets | $25,000
- Town of Altavista | Downtown Business Investment Grant Program | $20,000
- Town of Abingdon | Bike Rack / Bench Project | $15,000
- City of Manassas | Livestream Shopping | $15,000
- Town of St. Paul | Alley Activation and Outdoor Dining | $10,000
- Town of Cape Charles | Design Enhancements | $10,000
- Town of Onancock | Design Enhancements | $10,000
- Town of Tappahannock | Design Enhancements | $10,000
- Town of Tazewell | Design Enhancements | $10,000
