Are you wondering what programs are available to help revitalize your downtown or community? Do you have a “white elephant” building in your community that would make a great brewery or co-working space? Do you want to encourage new businesses to open in your community? If so, we encourage you to attend one of the upcoming DHCD Community Development Roadshows coming to a locality near you over the next few months!

Community stakeholders will be introduced to DHCD programs through examples of how communities have used these grant funds, and participants will learn about the application process, including timelines and what makes a strong application, in anticipation of the upcoming grant cycles. This year we will discuss nine programs that are available through DHCD. These include:

Community Development Block Grants (CDBG)
Virginia Main Street (VMS)
Industrial Revitalization Fund (IRF)
Community Business Launch (CBL)
Acquire, Renovate, Sell (ARS)
Indoor Plumbing Rehabilitation (IPR)
VA Telecommunications Initiative (VATI)
Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC)
GO Virginia

The first CD Roadshow will take place on July 22nd in Lynchburg, with others to follow in Abingdon (August 20), Culpeper (TBD), Martinsville (October 9), Richmond (October 29), and Hampton (November 19)!
